Miraggio Thermal Spa Resort

Initially, we were very happy with this hotel: the Club room was spacious, stylish and very comfortable so we slept well. Staff have clearly been told to be friendly - some genuinely are while other say the right words but their face tells a different story. Other guests appeared predominantly from eastern european countries and other parts of Greece with many obviously having driven here. While this is listed as a five star resort - our impression was that four stars would be more appropriate. Yes it does have amenities - a spa / multiple restaurants / multiple places to swim and sunbathe / multiple sports possibilities and a childrens club……but the staff are very inexperienced. We had a couple of small issues and they were dealt with appropriately - but only once a manager was involved. There are issues with some guests feeling that the rules didn’t apply to them - eg no under 18s in one outdoor pool but this was taken care of by hotel staff quickly…..children under 16 are not allowed in the gym but this went unchallenged. Club members have a separate area on the beach - and in this section, there are beach cabanas reserved for guests staying in suites. Clearly the suites were not occupied and so these cabanas sat empty - guests could have paid 200euros to occupy these unused cabanas: really? The hotel should review this potential revenue stream because it is simply greedy to expect 200 euros…… On a final point - the food was okay but not what would have expected for a truly five star facility.

With this destination hotel, you will need 90mins from Thessaloniki airport. But it is an easy trip and well worth the extra travelling….every expectation will be met. The hotel has a huge low level footprint and is good for couples and for families with children. The Club rooms are stylish, spacious and very very comfortable. There are adult only areas if that is your schtick - the thermal spa pool has an amazing view over Mount Athos. Staff are very friendly and efficient. There was a warm welcome and it all feels very relaxed and reassuringly professional. Appears to attract a very cosmopolitan clientele who will have high expectations of their hotel experience

The service was absolutely fantastic nothing was too much trouble for them. The hotel and facilities spotless The staff and their professional level of service and attention to detail on customer relations was on a parr if not better than some the top well known hotels we have stayed in I would highly recommend this hotel based on the excellent service we received throughout our stay .

Despite some of the bad reviews we read before our visit (nearly didn’t book), our stay was actually mostly very good. But that’s not to say it was without problems. We chose a club room on half board. On arrival we were greeted and offered a drink while the porter parked our car and delivered our bags to the room. Overall check-in was good and we felt welcome at the hotel. They even put some nibbles and a bottle of prosecco in the room which was a nice touch. The club room was spacious and clean with a stunning Seaview balcony. The bed was comfortable and the room was well appointed and exactly what was expected of this 5-star hotel. The hotel communal areas (although a little empty of art and decoration in some areas) were clean and well kept, with highly polished floors. The Spa and pools were all a great feature of the hotel. We enjoyed all the salt water pools of varying temperatures throughout the hotel, as well as the well-equipped gym, sauna’s and steam room. The experience showers were sadly broken and only partly worked on our visit. With our room rate we got free access to the Spa pools. I must say we would not have paid the normal 50 Euro per person per day to use this area. On average we only spent 1 hour a day in the spa, so paying the extra would just not be worth it. The hotel should always include spa entry in to the room rate as many others have said, or limit access to two hours a day per guests to avoid overload. The beach is on a slope, so they have built platforms for the sunbeds and cabanas. We were promised a private beach area for club guests with a Cabana in our welcome letter. It was later found out the cabanas were for Suite guests only and the side of the beach for normal guests was closed with no sun beds, so the entire hotel had full use of the private beach normally reserved for club guests. Not a big problem, as it was quiet anyway, but we did pay extra for club benefits that were not received. As club guests we were also promised breakfast in a separate restaurant called Elia, but sadly this was not the case. Instead, the entire hotel was also invited to Elia as apparently the hotel was not busy enough to open both. Standard guests benefited from a free upgrade, but sadly club guests had to share the space with everyone else, meaning we could not sit on the sea view balcony area or get very good service as it was packed! As many have described in previous reviews, tea and coffee and general service at breakfast is a shambles. We waited nearly 30 mins some days to get a coffee & tea that was then delivered with out milk. There was one guy and one machine serving the entire hotel! It was a complete joke. When we complained about the slow dis-jointed service we were told the strangest thing by the member of staff. She advised us not to complain!
