It was a good experience. The breakfast buffet was too much for what I paid for although there was no coffee but they have hot milk. The furniture was a little bit old but the bed was comfy, spacious room and clean. I had a wonderful time and will come back again.

Pleasant, clean and basic, but served our needs for a quick visit. Whole place is very dated and quite a way out of the city centre. Breakfast was very disappointing - not even tea or coffee available. Room was large and has everything we needed, but again just a bit dated and becoming shabby.

Worth the the price

The Kaiyun Manju is an interesting hotel.  If is very convenient to Hongqiao Airport, taking only a a quick 15 minute ride from Terminal 2.  It is in a quiet setting, overlooking a small rivulet (so, yes, a water view from some rooms).  It is quite large and has a "palace" like feeling - or likely did when it was newer.  With a good face lift, this could be a fantastic hotel.   As it is, it does represent pretty good value for money for being near the airport.  The best feature is that the rooms are really large, so easy to stretch out and unpack your bags after travel.  Most importantly, we had a good night's sleep, which is really all you can ask for an airport hotel, especially at this price point.  The room included breakfast, which, although all Chinese cuisine, was quite varied.  We will stay here again, will probably try the big duplex suite next time!

Looks Like an Old Palace, But Not Worth the Price" I recently stayed at Kaiyuan Manju Select Hotel (Hongqiao Hub National Exhibition Center Store) and honestly, it felt more like stepping into a historic palace than a modern hotel. The building and rooms are huge, and there's definitely a classic, old-time vibe, but unfortunately, that didn't translate into a comfortable 4-star experience. While the bed was decent and room size impressive, the flooring was dirty, and there were ants and mosquitoes around, which made it hard to relax. The hotel overall feels worn out, like it hasn't been updated in a long time — more like something out of 1500-1600 BC/AD than a current-day premium stay. The breakfast was below average, with staff doing the bare minimum. There’s no nearby market, ATM, or convenience store, so it’s not great if you need quick access to essentials. The only plus is that it's relatively close to the domestic airport, which might suit transit travelers. ⚠️ Important Tip: Be cautious before booking. Double-check the location and what's included, because while it’s not terrible, there are definitely better options at the same price point. Think of this place more like an old palace with big rooms but poor upkeep, not a true 4-star hotel.

It’s ok in general, but location is not that great and the room is not like advertised. Breakfast has Chinese options only and not having coffee over breakfast.

Hotel is very nice rooms are very comfortable the staff is also very good and friendly. The location of hotel is good not far from airport and train station the reception is very beautiful and breakfast is also good

I had a pleasant one-night stay. The hotel is near Shanghai's airport. It was convenient for a quick stopover, offering everything needed. While not particularly special, its proximity to the airport makes it a practical choice for those flying out. Overall, a fine experience.

Big draw for me is the location due to its proximity to the Hongqiao Airport, making airport run more predictable. However, the hotel seems have passed its prime and the neighborhood it is situated feels pretty rundown. I could not find any decent restaurants within walking distance, ended up ordering takeouts. To be fair, nothing specific bad about the hotel itself other than its age, just the whole neighborhood seems to be going downhill, you have to take a taxi to get food and other types of services. Having said all that, I have to admit I am not sure there are more appealing alternatives around if you want to take advantage of the proximity to the airport without spending a lot more.

it was really dirty. The smell is a bit too much and the cashiers are not very communicative. the food was like dog food. the room smelled bad. ran away after about 1 day. Do not return to this hotel. 00 rooms moldy towels smell bad bed sheets were wet.🙁

Staff was very cooperative, and rooms are clean and tidy. Hotel also provides shuttles service to go to Hongqiao Airport T2. It's very convenient. I highly recommend this hotel for foreigners, who are looking for hotel in Hongqiao Area.

The hotel.is quite old but its location is best because its near the airport at the same time the NECC. The staff were also kind despite the language barrier
