"We had a wonderful time and loved everything about the ryokan. But getting there was really, really difficult. We wanted to take the bus from Nagoya, but all the day-long bus tickets sold out that morning. So we had to take a taxi. A taxi from Nagoya to the ryokan costs 50,000 yen. That's very expensive. It's a shame there was no information anywhere about having to buy bus tickets in advance."

"To get to hotel need arrange on own expenses for taxi cost approx Yen 7000 from lida station. To go nearby heaven sohara cost approx Yen 3000 on own expenses. The benefits is free transport at night to star grazing and hotel provided coats, mat and equipment. The dinner served at 5pm is very delicious. We missed breakfast because we have to travel at 630am so we are given rice balls. If hotel put breakfast timing 7am will be great for any travellers planning. At night, they provided warm heated water pillow to hug for cold winter."

"My husband and I were on our way to Shirahone Onsen but the roads were closed due to Typhoon Mawar, so we had to find a place to stay along the way. We arrived after 5 hours of frustrating and difficult driving, unannounced. The staff were a bit surprised to see us since this is not the kind of place that has unannounced guests arrive during a typhoon, but were very welcoming and accommodating. We stayed in room 106, which was extremely spacious (large living room, separate bedroom, many small art/decor displays, dressing room, toilet room, bathroom, and separate cypress bath area, two gardens). It was a palatial traditional tatami room, very well-maintained, clean, with lovely decor and plenty of amenities. The hotel itself is huge and very beautifully decorated, with a Noh stage. The night of the typhoon, amazingly, there was a traditional Japanese drum show. The breakfast was served in a separate tatami room in the restaurant, and was very extensive. The hotel staff were wonderful. All in all, it is a great place to stay if you are looking for a traditional Japanese experience (which we were!), and was an amazing place to spend the night of the typhoon."

"I have been to Hirugami Onsen many times, but this was my first time staying at this inn, so I was looking forward to it. As the name suggests, "Yurui" means "hearth." As the name suggests, we had dinner in a room with a hearth, where we were able to enjoy a leisurely meal of grilled trout and gohei mochi. The view from the room was also great, and we had a great view of the hot spring town, so we had a very pleasant time."
