Le Château de La Seigne I Gîte et Chambres d'hôtes I près de Carcassonne

"I very rarely post reviews but felt the need as the Chateau de la Seigne is an incredible place to stay. My fiancé and I were fortunate to be among some of the first guests to stay at the newly renovated Chateau, and both the accommodation and the Senne family exceeded all of our expectations. We booked this trip for my fiancé’s birthday as a chance to get away and relax, but also wanted to be able to go and dine out and explore the area easily. The Chateau is only around 10 minutes from the centre of Carcassonne, and is close to a Carrefour and the motorway, but it is so quiet and surrounded by vines and fields and is the perfect spot to chill out. We stayed in the Gite de la Chapel, and it was beautifully restored with a separate entrance and outside space for a secluded break. The family also offered to give us a tour of the rest of the renovated château, including the guest rooms and other gites all of which were sympathetically renovated to an incredible standard. The work that has gone into renovating and restoring this old building is astounding, and the family has managed to maintain the character of the building while creating truly functional rooms with modern amenities. For us, the real highlight were the hosts, the Senne family could not do enough for their guests. While this review would be 5 stars based only on the accommodation, the hosts added more stars on top. They made it their mission that we would have everything we could possibly need, and could answer any question we had. We had all the space we wanted, but as soon as we asked for anything the Senne family leapt into action and made the trip unforgettable. I would absolutely recommend staying at The Chateau de la Seigne, we will be back for sure!"

"Superb two night stay at Ducs de Joyeuse - friendly welcome great room - small but very nice swimming pool - we visted Carcasonne from here - food was excellent however they could do with clearer allergen information on the menu (there was none - that means you make your selection wait for server to take your order indicate allergy wait for server to enquire of kitchen then select another menu item - restaurants need to realise that they can save all that waiting and delay by simply putting the information on the menu in the first place) - other than that an excellent stay"
