Many state maintained hiking and mountain climbing trails off RT 182 within 10 miles of camp. This camp offers 2 kayaks and life jackets for the guests as well as a 16 ft canoe. New dock and deck installed spring of 2021. Georges Pond is one of the most popular fishing destinations in downeast, Maine. Fishing rods and small tackle box are provided for our guests. One mile to a public boat launch. We have designated the power to the camp to be provided by Maine Community Solar Power Grid. All handsoap, body wash, shampoo and conditioner provided by Ginger Lily Farms Botanicals. Newly added bedroom and attached bath with washer and dryer. Enjoy a Bar-B-Que on the back deck or maybe that "must do" lobster bake. Enjoy the evening around the fire pit or hang your feet off the dock. The bus will stop at any safe location along its route across all of Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island.The house is easy access to the following as well: just over one mile from downtown Southwest Harbor, less than one mile from Cable Crossing Road, less than two miles to Seawall Picnic Area and Beach, three miles to the oceanfront, family friendly hikes of Wonderland and Ship Harbor, and approximately four miles to Bass Harbor Lighthouse. If fishing is more your style we have plenty of that, with salmon and trout in Little Tunk. Maybe you would like to go for a swim, this pond is great for that and Big Tunk is just a short walk away! We have a generator all hooked up to immediately switch over if power is ever lost. A cozy authentic Maine camp on Spectacle Pond in Osborn that sits among the hemlock in trees near the waters edge. Enjoy beautiful sunsets, camp fires, swimming, fishing, and kayaking. Relax on the screen porch at night while listening to the loons. Adventure outside the camp to a public sand beach, accessible by foot at the very end of Hemlock Way or enjoy a longer walk to a nearby river. ATV trails are also conveniently located. This camp features one bedroom with its own deck and a sleeping loft, accommodating up to 5 guests. Although off-grid, there is a gas powered generator to supply water for the bathroom and kitchen. Generator will also power the electric coffee maker and lights. The kitchen is fully functional with a gas refrigerator & gas range that do not require the use of the generator. Kitchen is stocked with basic kitchen supplies. Guest are required to bring their own drinking water. Spec Pond (as the locals call it) is 16 miles from Amherst, where you will find the Amherst General Store, Airline Brewing Company and other local businesses. This camp is approximately 40 miles east of Bangor, 38 miles from Ellsworth and 58 miles from Bar Harbor. Available with rental are, 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, a canoe, and a paddle boat. Life jackets are provided but guests are encouraged to bring their own for proper fitting.
