"Fine. Perhaps slightly expensive considering it is one of the older-style, tired looking Travelodges. You really have to drive into town from there as well. Right on the A road so handy for getting on with your journey, but also noisy with traffic. Petrol station, Starbucks and Gregg's right outside the front door so definitely don't pay for a Travelodge breakfast box. If you want a nice cooked breakfast in Dumfries though, try Pan's Cafe, which was lovely. Only stopped one night, breaking the journey back from the Highlands, was was fine for that purpose. Room itself was clean and comfortable and staff were nice."

"We had the pleasure of a two night stay in this beautiful country house. We had a warm welcome from Angus, our host, who showed us the guest areas of the house before taking us to see our room. The room, Criffel, was absolutely huge, and very comfortable in a faded grandeur country house style. It is very much not about modern swish high tech styling but if you, like us, prefer something a bit quirky, comfortable, relaxing and unique you will love Cavens. After pre dinner drinks in the lounge in front of the fire, evening meals were delicious- not over the top frills and flounces- just simple good ingredients cooked and presented well (Angus appears to be a very competent sauce wizard!) We enjoyed exploring the local area and were very happy we had booked our stay at Cavens."

He was not satisfied with the two room arrangements. The first time was a side room with only half a large window. The second time was a smaller room after communication with Ctrip. The suitcase was opened and there was nowhere to put it. 😭 The advantage is that the breakfast is Scottish 😌."

"Beautiful B&B right in the centre of Dumfries. Excellent access to many amenities and a two minute walk to the train station. Despite its location the Huntingdon offers a great night's sleep. My room (the annex) was spacious and stylishly decorated, with all the necessary facilities. It was immaculately clean. One minor grump was the lack of shelf in the shower - trying to pick up shampoo from the floor is difficult mid shower. Breakfast was very good quality, and the poached eggs superb. Would thoroughly recommend this B&B."

"Det värsta hotellet jag någonsin har varit i ...evit, och titta inte på några bra recensioner; hotellet har sedan dess tagits över.Jag var villig att överse att få ett enda rum när jag bokade en dubbel. Och var också otroligt förlåtande för de vilseledande fotona på nätet.*Endast en handduk för händer/kropp/hår *En liten flaska kroppsvax för dusch/hår och också för tvätt av händer vid sjunk. Duschen stannade halvvägs genom användning och kom till slut tillbaka med kallt vatten, gjorde en hemsk ropande buller överallt.Det fanns inget varmt vatten i sänken.Mjölk gick ut i februari 2025. Kaffet gick ut i 2022 och 2023.Inga datum på tepåsarna men jag antar att de också var ut.Sängen var smutsig och hade hår i den.Allmän renhet: cobwebs, spiders, damm och hår.Allmänt otroligt besviken. Jag bokade som en nödboende halvtimme innan jag anlände, bestämde jag mig för att lämna klockan elva så att jag kunde tävla om en återbetalning som ägaren är otroligt svårt att få. Den "resolution" som han erbjöd mig var att ta bort mannen från rummet jag skulle ha bokat in till - vid 10:45pm!Valde att stanna i min bil över detta hotell.Hur denna plats fortfarande handlar är ett absolut mysterium, En fullständig skam och förnekelse för skotsk gästfrihet."

"Lovely location to switch off and recharge. Angus and his team of staff create a homely atmosphere and ensure every guests needs are met and exceed. Rooms are generously proportioned each with beautiful outlooks over gardens and surrounding area. Perfect for couples or small family events. During summer months it’s lovely to relax in gardens watching the swollows, red squirrels and deer. Alternatively enjoying the many lovely local walks in Carsethorn, Arbigland, Kirkbean and New Abbey to name but a few. Breakfast and dinner both locally sourced with top quality produce. Set three course menu each evening open for discussion to cater for dietary preferences or needs. Highly recommended for those who enjoy the quieter lifestyle and relaxing in peace provided by country lodges."

"Vacker B&B precis i centrum av Dumfries.Utmärkt tillgång till många faciliteter och en två minuters promenad till tågstationen.Trots dess plats erbjuder Huntingdon en stor natt sömn. Mitt rum (bilagan) var rymligt och elegant inredda, med alla nödvändiga faciliteter.Det var oförstörligt ren.En mindre grupp var bristen på hylla i duschen.Att försöka hämta schampo från golvet är svårt mitt i duschen.
