"I recently wrote a review of my stay at the General Kearny Inn on ******* basically confirming the reviews of several other people that I had read prior to travelling and sharing my own experience. I would like to provide an update. The rooms are being redecorated and upgraded a little bit at a time. Big chains do wholesale renovations all at once but privately owned facilities can't do that. After my first stay, I had rebooked for the same room because I knew what I was getting and was ok with that. (No TV, warm but not hot water, hard bed, no coffee, no food onsite) Upon checking in, though, the general manager put me in a different room - one that had been mostly updated. In this room, the bed was comfortable with nice pillows and the bedding was of higher quality too. The old box style TV had been replaced with a flat screen equipped with a HDMI port, so Direct TV worked in my room. Even the hot water was better - MUCH better - so much so that I had to turn it down. The rest of the issues reported by other people (and myself) still apply - no coffee, no food, etc. I travel a lot for work, so I travel with my own single cup pot. The nearby eateries are ok to good/pretty good, there's also a grocery store next door, and that's enough for me. I'm happy to stay in a place that's clean, feels safe, and has a friendly staff and management team. Heck, she even remembered my name. As it turns out, I have another meeting tomorrow in the same area, so I got my same (newer) room for a second night. This is where I will stay anytime I'm in the area."
