"Stayed here recently and read some recent reviews as we approached town. They were not very positive reviews and this left us worried. However, we had a wonderful stay at this hotel. If you are looking for the Four Seasons and impeccable everything this place is not for you. If you enjoy a unique stay in a place with character you should have a wonderful time. Everything was very clean (keeping in mind it is not a sanitised chain hotel), the staff were very helpful. The balcony view is incredible. We stayed in a 2nd floor room and the problem from came from a guest smoking on the patio despite clear no smoking signs. We did not have dinner so I have no comments on that. Travelling from Canada, we find all the buffets in Norway to be exceptional and this location kept that consistent. Accept that you are going to a hotel that has developed its own "patina" over many years and you should have a wonderful stay."

"we arrived at 1130, but there was no staff there. After a while we got to speak to an employee who said we could only find a place and come up to pay after 1500. We found our place and went out on a bike ride. When we returned at 1500 the same person came down to say that we could not stand where we did - and that in the meantime it had become full. We were regularly expelled. He blamed the boss who was so strict, and showed no thought at all of solving the problem. We were told to leave. This is the most horrible customer service we have ever experienced. This man needs to be fired. We quickly got out of the "hole" Ulvik, and chose just as well to end the holiday. after 6 hours we are finally home and can relax."

"We stayed at this hotel because the Brakanes Hotel was fully booked, but we were not very impressed by it. The hotel room seemed worn out, the breakfast was average, and nothing stood out as exceptional. We also found it strange that we had to speak English at a hotel in Norway. There was not much to do in Ulvik when we visited in June 2023. However, the location of the hotel was very good, with a nice view of the fjord. We think this hotel has a lot of potential if it gets renovated. We are a couple in our 50s."
