"Mycket överpris.Kaffe - bara 2 väskor tillhandahålls.Inget tealternativ.Så antingen ha en före sängen eller morgonen!!! Den enda formen av toaletter var en liten rund tvål i en låda och en tom plastflaska med en etikett som anger "shampoo".Inte ens handsap på bassinet eller en handduk.Enda toalettpapper såg ut som råttor hade varit på det. Mats i badrummet hade hål, precis som den reservdelar dubbel/dronning storlek för en enkelsäng.Ingen hårtork.Elektrisk kudde fungerade inte och temperatur var omkring 3°.Tack gode Gud att jag hade tagit min varmvattenflaska.Hade 3 missmatchade koppar, glas, plattor etc. Flodskruv kunde göra med ett tvätt.Gräddar är riktigt tunna och blockerar inte ljuset från utsidan.Bara 1 2-pin plug punkt i rummet.Det fanns olika meddelanden fastnade med prestick på väggarna som indikerar regler, TV-guide, foder inte hundar, ingen rökning osv. Varför inte sätta allt i en liten flip-fil all a på en plats?Den enda sängen var bekväm och det fanns varmt vatten för en dusch.Platsen är bra men behöver laddningar av TLC.Tro inte att jag kommer tillbaka någon gång snart."

"⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ This was one of the biggest surprises I've ever stumbled across, and quite possibly one of the best places my wife and I have stayed in the Midlands. The Old Mushroom Farm was recommended to me by a client, Alice, who lives on the neighbouring farm. She told me I wouldn't regret staying here, and she couldn't have been more right. Thank you, Alice! What was once a working mushroom farm has been transformed into something truly special. The owners have created a destination that perfectly blends thoughtful design, local creativity, and the natural beauty of the KZN Midlands. It's one of those rare places that feels authentic rather than manufactured, this is exactly what my wife and I always look for when traveling locally or aboard. We stayed in The Loft, and absolutely loved it. The space is beautifully simple, warm and rustic, while still offering all the comforts you need. The views from the main bedroom and lounge/ dinning/ kitchen are breath taking! It fits perfectly into the misty rolling hills surrounding Howick, and waking up there each morning was incredibly peaceful. Breakfast was exceptional every single day, and I have to give a special mention to the freshly baked breakfast bun, the scrambled eggs are incredible, which quickly became the highlight of every morning. Sitting outside with a lekker coffee, taking in the view while enjoying my breakfast bun, my daughter on my lap and my wife sitting calming next to me holding my hand was the perfect way to start each day. What really makes The Old Mushroom Farm stand out, though, is the wonderful community it has created. The artisan shops are full of genuinely friendly and passionate people who were happy to chat and share their stories. My wife and I found ourselves lingering far longer than we had planned. I was particularly captivated by Midlands Books & Collectables, where I happily lost track of time browsing through books, antiques and hidden treasures. If you're looking for a place that offers more than just accommodation—somewhere with character, creativity, fantastic food, beautiful scenery and genuinely warm people, yes the people are warm even though the midlands in winter are freezing, the warmth from the community resonated with us —The Old Mushroom Farm is difficult to beat. We'll definitely be back, and next time we'll be staying even longer! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐"

"The hotel is in a great location but clearly the owners have not invested in this property in years. The rooms and common areas are tired and in some cases carpets are dirty and seem well past replacement age. The curtains in the room were also tired and did not pull properly and the soft furnishings were worn. There is no excuse in this day and age for no internet access in the bedrooms, all the guest in our party complained about this. The breakfast is ok with the eggs being consistently over cooked. When in the common areas there seems to be little sensitivity of guests with staff and management often conversing loudly. Other issues are a lack of room safes and bar fridges as well are poor heating in the room. One to avoid as there are far better options that do not suffer these problems in the area."

"My wife and I just got married at Lythwood Lodge, and what a fantastic experience we had. We stayed at the lodge for 3 nights, and the room we stayed in was simply amazing. All of our guests commented on how well furnished and comfortable the rooms were. The team at Lythwood Lodge was outstanding, with John and Skimbuso leading the way. All the staff members were friendly and very helpful. The food served was of an exceptional standard. We were both extremely impressed with the food, and we had a number of guests complement the food at the wedding. A final shout out to John, who really went above and beyond with helping us plan our wedding day and answering all the questions we had and was on hand to help us get through the weekend with ease.
