Villa Porta Maestra

"Slightly uphill from port, then a couple flights of stairs at the building to the perfect 1 bedroom vacation apartment, especially for a longer stay. The building appears to be freshly renovated, everything in the apartment is modern and beautiful, with sophisticated understated finishes and high-end fixtures and appliances. The kitchenette features a small half-fridge, a 2 burner induction cooktop and reasonable counter space, but NO oven, dishwasher or washer/dryer. It is stocked with a good array of pots, pans and utensils for making most meals, if cooking on vacation is your thing! There's also a nespresso type coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster and microwave. (A few small missing basics: never found any salt, pepper or sugar.). The sleek bathroom has a large stall shower and towel warmer rack. Lots of storage in both bedroom and bathroom, plus plenty of surface space everywhere to set up your things. There is a tv in both the living room and the bedroom. The living room has a very comfortable leather sofa (sofa bed?), the bedroom has a nice firm platform bed with light switches and a usb port on both sides. A lovely, sunny, high-walled stone terrace is right off the kitchen. 9 foot wood beamed ceilings, exposed stone walls and beautiful lighting (both from the many windows during day, and built in lights in the evening). The building has just 3 units, and the manager Stefani was very sweet and helpful. Really feels like someone designed and furnished the place for their own use, nothing was overlooked! The included breakfast was served at Café Nora, a short walk down the street. It’s a shame they don’t offer to deliver a selection of pastries, cheese, fruit and juice to the door each morning so people can have their breakfast on the terrace. General advice for the historic towns in Croatia: as a very mountainous country, the side streets that are impassable to cars are usually steep stair cases. If you have limited strength or mobility or you’re on a big trip with more than carry-ons, always verify the elevation and how close a taxi can bring you to your accommodation before booking! We saw many older adults (like us) struggling mightily, dragging their luggage up the interminable stair-streets. Plus the very old buildings do not have elevators, so getting to your charming room will entail stairs inside the building as well. Villa Porta Maestra is just about a 5 min walk from the port, a gentle incline, plus we arranged for Stefani to meet us at the port to help. There is a bakery near the end of the port just before you turn onto the plaza -- excellent croissants and other pastries, everything we tried was wonderful! In addition, we found a very convenient drop-off laundry a couple blocks away, near a parking area behind the port, I believe. As an aside: I see this property is classified as a "Hotel", which is clearly an error using any definition of the word. There was no interim maid service, no staff on premises overnight, no p"

"Vår vistelse på Apartments Stipisic var inte mycket mindre perfekt!Från det ögonblick vi anlände, blev vi blåst bort av hur vackert lägenheten har renoverats. Det har en modern, högslutande känsla medan det fortfarande är otroligt cozyit ser verkligen ännu bättre ut i person än i bilderna!En av de största poängen för oss var platsen.Det är absolut perfekt. Om du reser med ett barn, vet du hur viktigt det är lätt åtkomst, och detta ställe gjorde allt stressfri.Vi var i hjärtat av allt, men det kändes som vår egen privata oas.Värdarna, Ivana och Jure, är helt enkelt de bästa. De är några av de mest vänliga och hjälpsamma människor vi har träffat under våra resor.De gick över och över för att se till att vi hade allt vi behövde, erbjudande av bra lokala tips och göra oss kända hemma från och med dagen ett. Som en bonus för mat: bara några meter från lägenheten är den fantastiska restaurangen Stajun. Vi hade en otrolig måltid där (de innovativa Medelhavsrätterna är ett must-test!), och att ha en sådan hög kvalitet plats bokstavligen på vår dörrsteg var isen på kakan. Om du letar efter en plats utan plats, stilfull och välkomnande att bo i Hvar, tveka inte.Detta är en 10/10 upplevelse och vi kan inte vänta tills vi kommer tillbaka!"
