"Comfortable hotel on Islay but a bit out of the way for anything. Golf course and beach are available but for whisky focused visits, better off to be at Bowmore or Port Ellen"

Port Charlotte Youth Hostel

"This was a clean and welcoming hostel on the whole but it has a slightly passive aggressive over use of notices. I arrived late (which they were accommodating about). The next morning i made sure to strip my bed and check out by 10 in compliance with the emails I got. i started to make breakfast and suddenly I was breezily told the kitchen was closed for cleaning from 10 to 5 and this was in the emails I received. I had not received emails to say this! this is ridiculous and very unwelcoming. I have not had this experience in yHA. the kitchen was spotless already and didn’t require closing for 7 hours unless you want to get rid of guests. the sitting room was very musty and I have concerns about damp in the building and inadequate ventilation"

"Personalen är helt fantastiska!Chipsen - den bästa vi har haft på vår Irlands skottskaresa Skallops aptits är skrumptisk!Posh Fish n Chips.Havsbass, Salmon och Haddock.Jag älskade havsbass och min man älskade lax. Jag nämnde chipsen... Åh min godhet... och definitivt gjorda av skräp."

The Bowmore House Bed and Breakfast

"Vi tillbringade fyra nätter i Gowanbrae, det härliga huset bredvid Bowmore House.Trots att det var självcatering, fick vi allt vi behövde för alla frukost, och köket är verkligen välutrustat för att laga mat på kvällarna. Stor dusch, stora sängar och mycket bekväm sittrum betydde att vi betygade detta hus som en perfekt bas för att utforska ön.Andrew var en mycket uppmärksam värd, som gav oss mycket råd om ön.Vi hoppas att återvända snart."
