"Our experience was great for a last minute thing. I would say we usually stay in a big chain but have decided for last 2 year to start giving to small businesses. Our host wullie was great. The gardens were beautiful although bit noisy with unruly kids but didn't ruin our day. The rooms are basic and we had no room to move . Sofa bed pretty uncomfortable if we are honest so we just shared the bed which was so comfortable. We had a very tight access to the balcony which wasn't great but again we coped. I'm going to say if you are bigger than a size 14 the toilets tight. We managed just fine. Maybe updated bit but considering we booked day before . The location was perfect and all in all we have a real calm experience so just what we needed. I would definitely stay again as I've pointed out couple things but that's my opinion. Our wee getaway was absolutely amazing. Beds as I said are so comfy but sofa bed not so much. But in this current climate I get it. Thanks to all staff. Suzanne"

"Hostess was welcoming and very helpful regarding local places to visit. Room was clean and spacious, with an ensuite bathroom. Tea/coffee making facilities, fridge and microwave in room. Would definitely stay again. Breakfast was not included."

"Great all round. Amenities, facilities, location and personal service. Breakfast excellent with choice of fresh fruit, complementary croissant and range of breakfast cereals, full Scottish breakfast or own choice. Highly recommend."

The Old Rectory

"Nice bright clean room with shower en-suite. Too many "rules" dictated on arrival eg.shoes off immediately whilst in house to" keep house clean" ( why have a very pale grey stair and landing carpet?! ) Poorly thought out front door key arrangement. One key per couple to be locked before and after leaving and entering. We felt the poor lady who greeted us was the unfortunate bearer of instructions of a hard taskmaster. Breakfast not offered or even mentioned All in all for a relaxing stay, steer clear. "

"Arrived at noon there was nobody there though there was a bedroom with my name on and a key so after ringing the doorbell and the internal bell I decided to go into my room and leave my bag later returning at 7 pm which is when l met the owner who was angry with me his attitude was that I shouldnt of gone into my room without permission and accused me of not ringing the Bell and waiting l even said sorry for the confusion but he said he was not happy.He said the breakfast had to be ordered by text n by 8pm and when it came the eggs were smoothered with pepper and the meal was covered in parsley which wasn't to our taste. We had stopped here previously under a different ownership who were really friendly but I didn't find the new landlord one little bit friendly at all and won't be returning"
