"The staff here is sooooo cool. As soon as I arrived, they took my heavy luggage and settled me in in a nice room. AC is icy cold, high speed wifi. Room is clean and essential. I had some struggle with using Wechat to pay with a foreign card, and they helped me adding cash to WeChat pay. I was feeling the altitude sickness and they helped me with O2 and effective medicine loco uses. Some details such as they use pressurized O2 bottle as supply instead of the cheap household regenerative ones. They don't charge for bottle of water. These gestures go a long way! Finally, the facility itself is a ******* style courthouse with an art store next to it and location is inside of Barkor street old town. This enabled me to explore near by foot. Even with DIDI, it was quite convient - just about a 5 min walk to get to the pick up spot. I like this place so much I extended my stay!"

"I booked a king-sized bed room, and they kindly upgraded me to a suite. While I appreciate it, the room was ridiculously spacious, almost comically so 😅. The location is excellent, within walking distance to Barkhor Street and the Potala Palace. The view from the sixth floor is definitely the highlight."

"We stayed in the courtyard family room at the Atour Hotel Lhasa Potala Palace. The room layout was spacious enough for a family, though the only minor drawback was that it faced the hotel's inner courtyard, so there was no street view and less natural light, making the room a bit dim. The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic, right in the heart of the old city. You can walk to the Potala Palace Square, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street in just 5-8 minutes. After a day of sightseeing, it was lovely to stroll back to the hotel without the hassle of constantly taking taxis, which made exploring Lhasa with children incredibly convenient. The room also had oxygen equipment to help with altitude sickness. Overall, our stay was excellent, and I highly recommend it for families. If natural light is a priority for you, consider booking a street-view room instead."

"Bringing family to Lhasa, our biggest concerns were altitude sickness and transportation inconvenience, and this guesthouse took good care of both. There was a free nasal oxygen concentrator in the lobby, and some rooms even had individual oxygen machines, which was reassuring for first-time visitors to high altitudes. The receptionist and owner were very attentive, reminding us not to rush, to drink plenty of water, and to rest as much as possible upon arrival. The location was also convenient, within walking distance of the Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, and Barkhor Street. The rooms provided disposable towels, bath towels, and toilet seat covers, making us feel clean and at ease with family. The owner was incredibly welcoming, patiently chatting with my parents and even offering suggestions for our next day's activities. Our stay felt very personal and welcoming, not just a cold, impersonal accommodation."

"I came to Lhasa backpacking alone, initially planning to rough it in a hostel for a few nights. But then a friend practically forced me to try this Hilton, saying 'you'll know once you stay here.' And okay, I admit, I'm completely hooked! The service was incredibly good. They proactively said, 'Let me arrange a comfortable yet affordable room for you,' and even hand-wrote a 'Lhasa guide' – telling me where to find the cheapest sweet tea, which monasteries have free entry, and which bus routes offer the best scenic views. The most touching moment was when I came back drenched from the rain one day. Immediately, someone brought me a bowl of hot herbal tea and a blanket, saying, 'Don't catch a cold, getting sick at high altitude is a hassle.' This kind of genuine care is something you might not even find in a five-star hotel. The value for money was surprisingly good. Honestly, I expected a Hilton to cost at least several hundred, but the price I booked was much lower than I anticipated, even more cost-effective than some private rooms in hostels. The room was clean and spacious, with oxygen supply and a humidifier, ensuring a really sound sleep at night. While breakfast wasn't a lavish buffet, it offered plenty of tsampa, butter tea, and boiled eggs, enough to keep me full until the afternoon, saving me lunch money. There's a bus stop right outside the hotel, and getting to the Potala Palace or Jokhang Temple costs just one yuan, making transportation costs almost negligible. After this stay, I feel like I hit the jackpot. Not just because it was affordable, but because of the unreserved kindness from the ******* people. Next time I visit Tibet, I won't hesitate – I'm definitely staying here again! 🙏🎒"

"Traveling to Lhasa with my family, we stayed at the Vanlen Hotel the entire time, and it was an absolutely fantastic experience – so many pros, I can't even list them all! 1. **Amazing Environment and Facilities** Both the interior and exterior of the hotel are stunning, and you can see the Potala Palace from the rooftop terrace. The room amenities are meticulously thought out, including disposable face towels, and unlimited oxygen diffusion throughout the entire room. In the evenings, they thoughtfully provided a Thermos filled with millet porridge and 'goodnight' milk, so we didn't have to worry about altitude sickness. 2. **Thoughtful and Abundant Breakfast** The breakfast offered a wide variety of dishes, paired with fresh fruits, catering to the dietary needs of both adults and children. It was both warming and comforting. There were also exquisite afternoon tea cakes served daily. 3. **Rich ******* Culture Family Experience** The hotel offered many complimentary special activities, and we participated in all of them: Thangka painting, handmade ******* incense making, and singing bowl sound healing. Our child was able to immerse themselves in ******* intangible cultural heritage and learn extensively about ******* culture. 4. **Heartwarming Souvenirs** The room came with complimentary exclusive ******* hats and a collection of Tsangyang Gyatso's poetry, which are incredibly memorable and allowed us to bring home unique memories and the poetry of the snow-covered land. 5. **Excellent Professional Service** A huge thank you to the front desk lady, the beautiful Gacao, who was enthusiastic and meticulous throughout our stay. She helped us book activities in advance and patiently responded to all our requests. Her service was professional, gentle, and thorough. Whether you're traveling with family or seeking some solitude, Vanlen is the top choice for accommodation in Lhasa. I've already recommended it to all my friends and family planning to visit Tibet. Next time I'm in Lhasa, I'll definitely stay here again!"

Areas for improvement: The WeChat contact for the butler service, which comes with the room key, was very slow to respond after I added them. It might be handled by the front desk, but if they want to promote a butler service, I’d suggest having dedicated staff for it."
