"Our room in Motel Strahan was clean and comfortable, with the luxury of a bath! great after a few days of hiking. Easy check-in. Pretty good wi-fi. We only expected to have a fridge and a kettle in the room, so it was a welcome space to discover a toaster, a Nespresso machine with pods, and even a minibar."

"We had a lovely stay in a very spacious studio apartment. The kitchen was fully equipped and included lovely touches such as butter, jam, honey and a lovely bottle of milk and in the kitchen there were sauces and olive oil and salt and pepper for us to use. This was a lovely touch and very much appreciated when you’re travelling around. There is an on-site barbecue which we did use and it was easy to navigate. Each little Studio has his own undercover carport which was very welcome as it was raining when we arrived. The owners of the Crays are very warm and friendly."

"To start with the positives. Risby Cove Hotel is wonderfully positioned at the water's edge, a short walk from the centre of town and easy access to the Gordon River Cruise boats. We splashed out on one of the two bedroom Maugean Suites which was light, bright and comfortable with a lovely outlook. But found them oddly designed - three televisions but only two coat hangers. Go figure! And the usual problem of finding somewhere to place the suitcases (a bugbear of mine). So the second bedroom came in useful! And it was hard to overlook small oversights - everything you need to make a cup of tea, for example, except the teaspoons. The overall impression was of a helpful, but very overstretched management, struggling with staffing. This was most apparent in the in the restaurant where we ate twice. Service on both mights was inexperienced and chaotic. On the first night, food was fine, although having the first course removed and simultaneously replaced with the second was jarring. On the second, any service at all was at a premium and the food appeared late and luke warm. Some problems in the kitchen - a new chef we were told. Which made for an expensive and disappointing evening."

"This is by far the best stay we have ever experienced. Was like coming home, warm and welcoming with all facilities, spotlessly clean, great accomodation for us and the car. "we had a booking at 20.00.and were the last clients. we were simply forgotten. they would clean the tables abd the few clients left, seemed just to disturb them as they wanted to clise. we had to ask for the next course every time and nobody ever asked if we would like more wine etc. the scotch filled had a lotof fat and nerves. we also had ocean trout tartare and brownie for desert. , both delicicous. we payed 230 dollars and the girl apologized. its a nice place but if they do not care for their customers, its a pity"
