A beautiful and modern hostel. Unfortunately I never met any staff member and also no one cleaned or arranged the beds, while I was there. All the lights remained on, even in the dorm and there’s no possibility to turn them off. The dorm itself was unfortunately also quite cold, while all the other spaces were warm and cozy. Otherwise everything was okay. There was a nice common space. But in general it doesn’t feel very safe and organized, as anyone can just enter the hostel and the dorm without any key or password.
The guest house is so nice, it's basically a typical house in Japan, so you can experience living in japanese house. The owner is very friendly and the bathroom is very clean. But you can easily hear a noise from outside.
Nice and chill reception. Really feels cozy and informal. Room was clean and simple, tatami mat floor and futon, very comfortable. The warming blanket was amazing! Toilet was super clean, which was such a relief. Very quiet neighbourhood. Close to buss tops and a giant bookshop/starbucks.
It’s a really lovely old Japanese house, but it’s really not been made over into a guest house at all.
1. There are pictures of a bath. It is not in the hotel it is just a separate public bath you have to pay for…
2. They charge for everything including “renting” towels and yukata
3. No noise blocking at all and kids are allowed. It sounds like they are in your room
4. Contactless check in doesn’t feel very safe
This place was so cute and excellent. Staff didn't speak much English, but we were able to communicate easily enough. Room was Japanese Ryokan style. Tatami mats, low table. It had everything needed, shower and toilet in the room too. There is also an onsen that you can reserve for your private use. I asked for a time later at night and they still had one spot available. If you can't get a time then it is ”public use” after 22:00, which seems to mean that you might need to share if others want to join. Location was very good, right in the middle of the historic part of town and a short walk (<5 min) to Nara park to see the deer. Hotel was very nice and clean. I was here in late December and the air conditioning heater in the room was very good too.
Conveniently located near Kintetsu-Nara station.
The place looks a tad old with some wear-and-tear, and the wooden tiles in my room made a creaking sound whenever being stepped on.
Soundproofing was pretty bad – I could hear people walking along the corridor, and voices and sounds coming from neighbours above and below.
Staff did not provide clear instructions on how to self-checkout, i.e. where to place the key as there was no indication around the front desk which was unmanned in the early hours of the morning.
Absolutely superb location for the price thay ask! A bit worn small hotel, but cozy and friendly like your grandma :)
Japanese style room was a pleasant experience.
Lovely Japanese style in with a great location near Nara park. Owner spoke good English and was very kind and helpful. Room was clean and stuff like towels and a toothbrush were provided. The Onsen is open from 17:00 to 23:00 and was a great experience. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Mycket bra
GGeraldine MooThe room was really small. I was alone so it's ok for me but I can't imagine two people sharing a room, it would have been very tight. The communal bath is very good tho. So much better to shower there instead. The location is also not as near to the station as I would like it. It's an average kind of hotel. Nothing great but also nothing to complain about.

MMilly NaumenkoThis is an old ryokan with a history. Everything was smooth and beautiful, though we did not speak Japanese, nor the personnel speak our language, we were able to communicate and enjoy open air bath, traditional dinner and breakfast. The stuff is professional, warm and friendly. The area itself is famous for pilgrimage and views. Apart from soaking in a bath, one can walk around the village and visit numerous shrines and one magnificent huge temple, which is absolute must-see. Another delight is the beautiful view from the ryokan window. The same breathtaking feeling may have at the dining hall watching remote hills and the valley down the hill.
Very authentic experience of traditional Japanese relax holiday.
highly recommended!
